  • Do you sell alcohol?
    Jones County is currently a dry county so we do not sell alcohol on property. Forrest County is very close and there are several gas stations (beer) and liquor stores (liquor and wine) in Petal where guests can purchase beverages of their choice.
  • Do I have to do practice yoga when staying at The Lodge?
    You do not! We offer optional yoga classes to guests for $12 per person per class. These classes can be scheduled when you arrive. If you would like to ensure we have an instructor onsite during your stay you can text us at 601.300.2150 to double check!
  • Are children allowed?
    Our goal is to maintain a peaceful and relaxing environment for all guests. In an effort to do so, we respectfully request that all guests be 16 years of age or older. All guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We LOVE sharing this space with children, therefore we offer "Family Weekends" when we allow children to stay. Visit our Events tab to see when our next "Family Weekend" is planned. If your goal is to escape your own little ones and you'd like to ensure your weekend is childfree you can also email us at info@lodgeatsweetwater.com to ensure you're not booking on a "Family Weekend".
  • What are the bathrooms like?
    Each tent has a connected bathroom that can be accessed directly from the front deck of each tent. Our bathrooms are divided into a shower area and a toilet and sink area. Our showers have hot water and feature a 12 inch rainfall style shower head with open air windows looking out into nature. Toilets are standard porcelain, flushing toilets with a small hand sink and mirror. Each tent has access to running water and we provide drinking water in areas where sink water in not potable.
  • What are the options for dining/meals while at The Lodge?
    We currently do not provide meals to guests who are not attending a group retreat, however each tent does have access to a propane grill that guests are welcomed to use. Additionally each tent comes with its own ice chest. Guests are encouraged to bring their own ice, food, and beverages for the duration of their stay. Additionally, Petal is the closest town (~15 mins away) with several restaurants and grocery stores available. Hattiesburg is also 20 minutes south and has many more dining options. Finally, Laurel is 30 minutes north and offers additional restaurants and grocery options.
  • Can I invite friends to come for the day if I am staying the night at The Lodge?
    We do not allow unregistered outside visitors who are not nightly guests of The Lodge. This allows us to maintain a safe environment for all guests on property.
  • What time is check-in and check-out?
    Check-in is at 3pm. Check-out is at 11am. If you would like to check-in early please text us at 601.300.2150 the day before your arrival. If we are able to accommodate, we are happy to allow you to check-in early.
  • Is there heat or air conditioner?
    YES! Each glamping tents comes with a small space heater and electric blanket during winter or cooler months, and also with a portable A/C unit and tower fan. We do request that you do not leave temperature control items on when not actively using them. While these devices can make a great impact for hotter or cooler months, these are still canvas tents with no insulation. Leaving the devices on when not using them will only waste electicrty and valuable environmental rescources we aim to conserve. Thank you for your assistance and understanding.
  • Is there electricity and hot water?
    Yes! All of our tents and cottages have hot water and electricity.
  • Are pets allowed?
    We LOVE fur babies (you'll even meet a few of ours). However we do not allow guests to bring their pets while staying at The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios. Due to the rural nature of our property it's possible you may encounter some of our "neighborhood dogs". While our pets on property are extremely tame and sweet, other animals around here are not and may pose a threat to your animal. We also aim to maintain a calming and relaxing environment, and work to reduce excess noise (like barking dogs) as much as possible.
  • What should we pack?
    We provide all bedding and towels at The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios. In winter, your tent will come with an electric blanket and small space heater along with the standard fan and portable AC unit. While there are a select few pool towels in our Tropical Greenhouse Spa, we encourage guests to bring their own for added comfort and accessibility. In an effort to reduce single use plastic and waste, we do not provide toiletries beyond a basic hand soap in the bathroom. We recommend all guests bring their own shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other desired personal toiletry items. We DO provide propane for our shared propane grills and also provide tongs and basic grilling tools. We recommend guests brings plates, cutlery, prep tools, and food/beverages if they are not attending an All-Inclusive Retreat. An ice chest is provided in every tent and a refrigerator is available in every cottage. Mak's on Highway 11 will be the last stop to get ice. There is also a Dollar General next to Mak's for any final food or snack stops. Jones County does not have options to buy alcohol, so please purchase beverages in Forrest County (or Laurel city limits) before arriving to The Lodge.
  • Is there cell service and WiFi at The Lodge?
    Unfortunately we do not have WiFi available for guest use. We encourage all guests to disconnect during their stay with us. Cell service is extremely limited. We've noticed that Verizon has the best service on our property. We recommend guests inform their loved ones of limited connectivity while they are staying at The Lodge. Text messages work best.
  • Where did this name come from?
    Sweetwater Studios is the name of the artistic business of John and Kim Whitt, the land owners of The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios. John and Kim have lived on this property since the late 1970's and have had successful businesses in stained glass, weaving, and painting. Their business was named after Sweetwater Creek, the small stream that runs directly behind our property. Visit the "Our Story" page to read the full story!

  • What is Glamping?
    glamp·ing /ˈɡlampiNG/ noun a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping. Each of our 6 tents have electricity, AC/heaters, lavender infused memory foam mattresses and linens, and private bathrooms and showers. Guests do not need to bring bedding of any type or bath towels (a pool towel is encouraged). We do not provide bathroom amenities like shampoo and body wash.
  • How can I host my own retreat at The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios?
    If you are an experienced retreat host and would like to host at The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios email us at info@lodgeatsweetwater. Please share with us the type of retreat you'd like to host, a brief idea of your schedule, your estimated/desired guest count, and a few dates you had in mind. We love working with artists, yoga teachers, and wellness practitioners to plan and host retreats!
  • How can I join a group retreat?
    Visit our Events page to see upcoming group retreats. If there are no future retreats listed, check back soon or join our mailing list to see when the next ones are announced!
  • I'd like to have a private event (work retreat, family reunion, bridal party, birthday party) and rent the entire Lodge. Is this an option?
    Yes! For select dates we do offer the option for a Full Buyout which can sleep up to 18 people. You can contact us at info@lodgeatsweetwater.com for more details! When reaching out please tell us the nature of your event, your estimated head count, and a few preferred dates.
  • Can you provide food for a Lodge Buyout?
    Yes! We are currently in the process of building our onsite kitchen which will allow us sell and offer food packages for group buyouts. Reach out to info@lodgeatsweetwater.com for more info!
  • How many guests can The Lodge sleep?
    Our 4 Hilltop tents each sleep 2 people max. Our two island tents can sleep a max of 4 people, and our Lakeside Cottage can sleep 2 max (queen bed). This allows us to sleep a maximum of 18 people. We do not have a way to accommodate more than 18 guests.
